PROFESSIONAL PROFILE Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with more than fifteen years of clinical practice and over eight years of consultant-level service, currently heading the Medical Diagnostic Complex at Federal Teaching Hospital Katsina and serving a second term as Acting Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Katsina. Practice spans diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, transient elastography (liver and splenic), and the management of chronic viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, portal hypertension, hepatocellular carcinoma and inflammatory bowel disease. Active clinician-researcher with twenty-four peer-reviewed publications, a book chapter and one manuscript accepted for publication, contributing to national and multinational collaborations on viral hepatitis, liver fibrosis, hepatocellular carcinoma and inflammatory bowel disease in sub-Saharan Africa. Invited resource person on non-invasive assessment of liver fibrosis. Committed teacher and supervisor: more than 40 house officers, 23 residents through the Part I Fellowship in Internal Medicine, and 8 consultants mentored to date. Seeking to contribute to an institution that values innovation, rigorous research and structured specialist training, with a particular interest in expanding non-invasive liver diagnostics and hepatocellular carcinoma surveillance in resource-limited settings.
