Mohamed Mahmoud Zakaria El-Kassas is a Professor and Head of the Endemic Medicine and Hepato-Gastroenterology Department at the Faculty of Medicine, Helwan University, Egypt. He holds an MD in Tropical Medicine from Cairo University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Research from the University of Liverpool. He is the founder and honorary president of the Egyptian Association for Research and Training in HepatoGastroenterology (EARTH) and the founder and CEO of the Steatotic Liver Disease Study Foundation in the Middle East and North Africa (SLMENA). His clinical and research expertise spans viral hepatitis, MASLD/NASH, hepatocellular carcinoma, and interventional hepatology.
