About

Prof. Dr. Gökhan Kabaçam graduated from Hacettepe University School of Medicine in 2001 and subsequently completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Gastroenterology at Ankara University School of Medicine. Throughout his academic career, he has developed a particular focus on hepatology, liver transplantation, cirrhosis, and liver cancer, alongside advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. His research has been recognized internationally, including 4 Young Investigator Awards from the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL). From 2015 to 2026, Prof. Kabaçam worked at Ankara Güven Hospital, where he served as Chief of Gastroenterology during his final three years. During this period, he was also the Transplant Hepatologist of the Liver Transplantation Program, taking an active role in the evaluation and management of patients before and after liver transplantation. In 2021, he was appointed Professor of Medicine at Yüksek İhtisas University School of Medicine. Prof. Kabaçam has also been actively involved in national and international professional organizations. He served as Chair of the Membership and Communications Committee of the International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS) and is currently a Past Chair of the committee. He is an active member of the Turkish Society of Gastroenterology and the Turkish Association for the Study of the Liver, and is among the founders of the Hepatology Oncology Network. He has contributed extensively to medical education and scientific collaboration by organizing numerous national and international congresses, postgraduate courses, scientific sessions, and educational meetings. He has also participated as an invited faculty member, speaker, and moderator at numerous meetings in the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology, and liver transplantation. Prof. Kabaçam is the author or co-author of 64 scientific publications and has an H-index of 19.
