He earned his medical degree from the University of Edinburgh, where he also completed specialty training in gastroenterology Professor of Medicine at the Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine. Clinical, research focus on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), advanced liver disease, and liver transplantation. Founding member of MASHNET, an international collaborative network dedicated to advancing research, education, and clinical care in MASLD and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Current and previous member of UNOS/OPTN committees.
