The Kidney in Liver Transplantation

Prof. François Durand, MD, is Professor of Hepatology at Université Paris Cité and a senior transplant hepatologist at Hôpital Beaujon, Assistance Publique–Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP), one of Europe's leading liver transplant centers. Internationally recognized as one of the foremost experts in liver transplantation, his clinical and research interests focus on liver transplant candidate selection, portal hypertension, acute-on-chronic liver failure, hepatorenal syndrome, renal dysfunction in cirrhosis, and outcomes after liver transplantation. Prof. Durand has played a pivotal role in advancing the understanding of kidney disease in cirrhosis and liver transplantation and has contributed extensively to the development of international clinical practice guidelines. He has served in numerous leadership roles within the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) and other international hepatology organizations and has been a principal investigator in multiple landmark clinical studies. A prolific academic, Prof. Durand has authored hundreds of peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and international consensus statements.
