Dr. Winston Dunn, MD, FAASLD, is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is an internationally recognized hepatologist with expertise in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD), advanced liver fibrosis, and noninvasive assessment of liver disease. His research focuses on clinical epidemiology, predictive modeling, machine learning, and novel approaches to risk stratification in chronic liver disease. He has led multiple clinical trials investigating emerging therapies for steatotic liver disease and has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Dunn is a Fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (FAASLD), with a strong commitment to advancing precision hepatology and translating research findings into clinical practice.
Explore the evolving role of noninvasive tests (NITs) in the diagnosis, fibrosis assessment, risk stratification, and clinical management of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), MetALD, and alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD).
Noninvasive tests (NITs) have transformed the evaluation and management of steatotic liver disease, offering practical alternatives to liver biopsy for assessing fibrosis, predicting clinical outcomes, and guiding patient care. However, their interpretation and clinical utility vary across metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), MetALD, and alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD).
In this expert-led webinar, Dr. Winston Dunn will review recent advances in noninvasive fibrosis assessment, including FIB-4, ELF, vibration-controlled transient elastography (FibroScan), and magnetic resonance elastography (MRE). Special emphasis will be placed on the diagnostic performance, limitations, and interpretation of these tools across different steatotic liver disease phenotypes, particularly the influence of alcohol consumption and hepatic inflammation.
The session will also explore emerging biomarkers, contemporary risk stratification strategies, and the integration of NITs into clinical decision-making, disease monitoring, and treatment pathways.
Designed for gastroenterologists, hepatologists, and trainees, this webinar will provide practical insights into selecting and interpreting NITs and translating evolving evidence into everyday clinical practice.
